Our Invest in Yourself Student Christian Slater and Shaughn Thomas appeared on “Great Day Houston” to discusses how the Invest in Yourself program helped him launch his own inspirational clothing line "New Wavez Clothing.” To visit his clothing website Click Here.
ABC 13 Houston visited Mr. Thomas in his flexible seating classroom to discuss his learning atmosphere as well as the impact that Invest in Yourself financial literacy program is having on his students and community.
The Houston Texans along with First Community Credit Union awarded me with the 2017 STARS in the Classroom Award! I received Over 30 nominations from my students! I am beyond grateful. They are the REAL Stars in the Classroom!
Mr. Thomas conducted his “Transformative Instruction” breakout session at the HCDE (Harris County Department of Education) “Educational Innovation” conference. Mr. Thomas taught educators how to transform the way we deliver content to our students and make every lesson an “Experience” #MakeLearningFun.
Mr. Thomas spoke to the young scholars from the Impact Agency about stocks and investing. The more youth Invest in Yourself can teach financial literacy the better our community will become. Less debt, less student loans, and better credit. This is the knowledge we want to teach our kids now so they can become productive members of society. No doubt that they will become Future Shareholders in Fortune 500 companies very soon.
